Calibration problems i think
« on: March 12, 2010, 03:36:48 pm »
hi i have recently bought Spin 2! package (with needles included, orthophons) and since the start ive been struggling with the program, at first the software didnt want to install properly, got overrun with errors, (only in ASIO installations) and after alot of mailing with my spin dealer we finally got this thing working for a bit. now i started spin a while ago did easy setup! and both my turntables were not calibrated. i ignored that fact for a second and looked if it worked a bit. i was able to play records on my turntables via reloop spin!. i enjoyed my full 2 minutes of spinning because from there it went wrong, if i wanted to pitch up or down the program simply did not recognise what i was doing. if i put  the needle of the record the song kept playing, if i backspinned the track he didnt co op with me and just kept playing, like he didnt aknowledge what i was doing on my turntable. and in the middle of the bottom, where u can see which songs u have played, spin was going haywire as well there, when u click on a song a green bar shows up showing what u have picked, and that bar went up and down without me doing anything. it eventually lead to, when i was spinning my record to a piece of the vinyl from where i wanted to play it, it switched songs.

now i mainly think this is because i havent calibrated spin properly. i have seriously no idea how to.
if i go to file> options> timecode and press calibrate i get the message: Warning! the quality of time code analysed (0%) is too low. while it is actually showing me 1 to 3 %.

i would seriously appreciate your help guys. i dont wanna bother my dealer directly because i have already put him in alot of pain for getting me to where i already am.

im working on an Quad core 8300, windows 7 32bit

http://i39.tinypic.com/25twx94.png here is a link that shows u what spin says.

btw i just found out, when a spin record is at its end it shows me 100% timecode Quality (the second song of the vinyl, that part)

Hi atmo,

please go thru these steps to calibrate your spin completely:

Try to raise up your gainknobs on the backside of your interface. Observe changes on Screen while you are raising up the intensity of the gain. Adjust the gain til the bar is provided in the yellow area.

Also be sure to deactivate the microphone buttom during the calibrating. (Its on the front of your Interface)

If there is still a problem please post again.

Greets

- try to put down the input volume of the spin interface within WINDOWS AUDIO SETTING
- check if Phono / Line is set correctly at the interface
- now try to calibrate again - it should work (bew. 90-100%)
- be sure your needles are ok

hey i think i dont have the interface u guys are thinking i have.

https://www.recess.nl/dj-gear/info/reloop-spin!-2-digitrack-bundle-/41164/

this is the package i bought, the black box (what i think is the interface, dunno rly am not that good with those stuff) doesnt have an gain button nor mic button.

i have put everything down @ line in, properties, levels, but doesnt do much.

it isnt the needles or the vinyl i think because i just recently bought it 1 and a half week ago.

sorry i havent seen any yellow bars as well except for the one in the options menu, but even if i put gain and master to 0% and hear no sound its still up to red.

i have a mic btw but an usb one and it is not plugged in.

i have connected the hardware all as it should be, turntables to black box's inputs, black box's outputs to line channel 2/3 on mixxer.

ill post a pic again with my screen about whats going on, im playing 1 song im hearing it perfectly.

where ive put the black arrows is where i had that problem with that 'green' bar thats been going up and down automatically, maybe u guys are fimiliar with it

thanks already for helping me out

you timecode signal is definetely distorted,
check if the phono / line switch on the interface is set correctly
then calibrate again in the timecode menu

the software / hardware does not seem to be the problem but your calibration. so set down the input volume and calibrate again. also you can swap cables & cartridges.

do you always re-connect your equipment and/or interface?
besides this, your computer (Intel Atom) is not really recommended for timecode use.
