timecode cd's problem
« on: September 01, 2008, 11:44:31 am »
If I use the timecode vinyl everything works perfect,
but if I use timecode cd's the music does a bit strange (slows bit down and goes faster).
In the options menu I already tried several things but does not solve the problem.
The strange thing is that with the vinyl timecode I don't have a problem...
anyone the same problem ...?

For the rest the spin! system works fine !

duo processor T2250

Hi,

which CD-Player and Operating System are you using? (Please also post your Hardware Setup in Signature field)

This issue is described in the Quick Installation Guide, as CD-Player and Turntable need different Sound INPUT settings.

Example for CD-Players and Windows XP:
> System Settings > Sounds and Audio > Audio > Sound Input (recording)

Here you need to minimize the Volume (as the signal is louder with CD-Players):

Now CD-Player control should be fine (incl. Scratching, Looping, Cue-Points, Pitch bending)

Let me know if it works fine now.

I tried the things you explained above, but the music is still slipping a bit...
I have no problems looping and cue'ing with my cd player, it is just the music that is not played nicely...

I will retry everything this evening , even connecting another cd player (and cleaning the lasers).

I retried to set the "line in" volume down, I see the sinus/waveform getting better but the music still fluctuates (okay it is less hearable, but still unable to use this cd timecode for a gig !!!!)

I even tried (just for the fun) to copy the timecode cd with a lower volume, but that doesn't work properly, okay the music is not fluctuating anymore, but I can not rewind the track ;-)

Using timecode vinyl is no problem at all and the sound quality is okay, but timecode cd is not usable

- check that you are using the line inputs
- perhaps your problem lies with the CD-Player you are using? Do you have the possibility to try out another one?
- it works fine using Pioneer or Reloop CD-Players

CD-Player Timecode
- what CD Player are you using? (Please place your computer specs and hardware setup in signature field)
- CD-Player mode works best in CLASSIC Spin! mode (Setting loops on the CD-Player directly also works here!)
- For Software Beatlooping or FX you need to change to Advanced Mode (also works with CD-Player)

I set it always on "classic mode"
The cd player that I use is the Stanton S-650.
Could it be a solution to put a resistor in the cable coming from the cdplayers ? A friend (technician) of me wants to try that...

I tried another cd player (just a normal cd player) and it had the same problem, but i think it was less

I finaly fixed my timecode cd problem !

I changed the soundcard setting from 256 to 512 mb and the fluctuating sound with cd timecode is solved !
So it is important to check this also !

I never changed this before because everything worked fine with vinyl timecode ...

my first gig with spin! went without a problem, it works great.

The only remark in my setup is that with timecode cd the cue'ing is not that fast. After setting the cuepoint, he does not always make a clean start, you hear the music "slipping" for about a half second when starting from cue .
I will try this in the future with other cd players to see if there is any difference

It is a bigger advantage then I could imagen, no worries putting cd's or vinyl back in their place...
