Reloop Contour problems with Traktor Scratch Pro
« on: January 09, 2011, 05:56:16 am »
Hi there,

I am hoping that somebody can help me here as I am totally stuck.

1. I am running two technics 1210's through Traktor Scratch Pro Audio 8
2. I have my decks connected to channels 3 and 4 of my DJM 700 mixer
3. I have a Reloop Contour connected to channels one and two of the DJM 700
4. I have updated Traktor to the lastest version
5. The drivers for the Reloop Contour have installed correctly.

My problem is that most of the keys are not working on the Reloop. It seems that the mapping is a million miles out, I tried downloading the new mapping files from this site but it is now even worse!

I also have problems that the sound will only play out of channels 3 and 4 even though they are plugged into channels one and two!

I hope somebody can help me here as it is a complete mess at the moment.

Thank you kindly

Update:

I have managed to sort out the mapping for the Reloop Contour. However, I am left with two major problems:

1. I am now getting dropouts and skipping when playing a track. It was fine before I had the Reloop Contour. My Laptop
is an Acer 1825 Multi Touch 4G ram which according to the CPU usage is merely being tickled when used in Traktor      Scratch Pro. I have just taken my laptop to get it checked over for any problems and it is working fine.

2. My second problem is that NOBODY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! From Reloop has bothered to get back to me regarding my problems. As it appears to be the only way to get Technical support is through the forum, buying this product means that there is NO help regarding issues with it.

It has now been over a week and NOTHING!!!! No replies and nothing from Reloop. As this is a new product, there is little on the web regarding problems about it so at the moment I am pretty much screwed!

On paper, the Reloop Contour looks like a sweet bit of kit. Professional, well built, handy jogwheel and able to delve deeper than the Kontrol X1. However, there appears to be issues when using this with Traktor Scratch Pro which the technical support won't comment on!!!!!

BUYER BEWARE !!!!!! That's all I can say right now because that's how I feel! Very disappointed!!!

Sorry for the late answer.

A question before:
Are you using the A8 or Contours interface for audio output in your TScratchPro setup?

EDIT:
* I also think that a lot of loaded mappings in the controller manager are causing this lag issue. Please go into controller-manager (Traktor settings), delete all mappings.
Now, import the latest mapping only once:
http://www.reloopdj.com/forum/index.php/topic,3887.0.html

* Another reason could be that you installed some midi software like "MidiYoke", "Maple Virtual Cable" or another native virtual midi cable software. So, you have to edit the ports of all mappings in the controller manager. Therefore, our manual contains a separate sections which explains how to setup:

Quote
Device                           In-Port                  Out-Port

Contour V* (CH1)   Reloop CONTOUR   Reloop CONTOUR
Contour V* (CH2)   Reloop CONTOUR   Reloop CONTOUR
Contour V* (CH3)   Reloop CONTOUR   Reloop CONTOUR
Contour V* (CH4)   Reloop CONTOUR   Reloop CONTOUR
Contour V* (Master)   All ports                        None

Hi there,

First off. Thank you kindly for your reply!

As of my last post. I have already sorted out the mappings on the machine by deleting every previous entry individually. Therefore, the mappings are now ok.

My problem is still the sound. I am using A8 for audio output.

Update,

I have followed your instructions and the problem is still there. I have re-deleted the midi maps again and dwonloaded and imported the TSI file. I have not downloaded any other midi software. When playing a track there are a lot of skips and dropouts. Spinning the jogwheel causes a slow down of Traktor that wasn't present beforehand.

(Acer 1825 (Windows 7) Laptop, DJM 700, Technics 1210's MK5)

I have just disconnected the Contour and reverted back to my original settings without a midi controller (two 1210's/DJM 700/Audio 8). Everything is back to normal and working fine. No dropouts, skips jumps or slow down. Any ideas what else could be causing problems when using the Contour? I very much want to integrate it into my set up. Could it be anything to do with the usb ports/windows 7?

One thing could be that Contour's ASIO driver collides with Audio8's ASIO driver (two drivers active at the same time), but not tested.

It would have been better when you bought the Controller Edition of Contour. Here, no ASIO driver are needed at all.
Are you able to exchange the device and take the controller edition (you don't need its interface because of your A8!).

Firstly, the Controller version is not available in Hong Kong at the moment and the supplier told me that it would never be available. Secondly, I was told and lead to believe that the Reloop Contour would work seamlessly with Traktor Scratch Pro which is why I bought it.

Can you please help me to get a refund for this product as it appears that it is not fit for the purpose for which it was bought. I bought it from Marlboro Audio in Hong kong. www.marlboroaudio.com.hk

It is now longer than 7 days since purchase and they will not give me a refund after this time.

Dear Reloop,

Please check and confirm the Contour controller edition and interface edition can work with Traktor Scratch Pro or not, many customers need an official answer. Thanks a lot.

Hi,

There should be no problem to use Contour with Traktor Scratch Pro. I test the issue and reply by day.

Greetings

EDIT:

There were no problems regarding the Contour IE/CE with Contour Asiodriver on Traktor Scrach Pro. But i dont know if there could be inteferences with Audio8 driver as we dont have the interface currently here.
The best way is to use the controller edition (above mentioned).

 - Do not use the Asio4all driver

FYI - I have just tried connecting my equipment to a desktop PC (XP) P4 3.4GHZ machine and I am getting the same problems. Snap crackle and pop. The Reloop Contour appears to be slowing down Traktor and sucking the life out of the thing!

I am a little bit surprised that a product like this has been released without first being tested along side the Audio 8 as it is such an integral part of Traktor which many DJ's use.

Hey Ken,

Thanks for your kind words. Do you know when you will get the controller edition?

Also when you do get it, I would like to bring my laptop/audio 8 and stuff into your office to test if that's cool?
